Derek goes INTO THE WEST with Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks TV
posted Friday, 1 October 2004
Finally, we'll get to see more of Derek de Lint on television!!! INTO THE WEST will be a 12-hour television mini-series on TNT. It is being produced by Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks TV. Production began in the summer of 2004 and will premiere in the summer of 2005. It's an account of the opening of the American West in the 1800s, as told through the eyes of two families -- one of white settlers and one of Native Americans. From an article from Reuters/Hollywood Reporter in July 2004: "Influenced by mountain man and pioneer Jedediah (Josh Brolin), Jacob Wheeler (Matthew Settle) and his brother Jethro (Skeet Ulrich -- he and Derek were in SOUL ASSASSIN together) head west on a treacherous wagon train journey, joined by their jilted cousin Naomi (Keri Russell)." From the Imdb: Derek de Lint's character is "Preacher Hobbes" (hmmm, never thought of DdL playing a man of god but it should be an interesting part for him.) Other cast includes Beau Bridges as "Hoxie", Jessica Capshaw as "Rachel", Scott Heindl as "Thomas Lebeck", and Emily Holmes as "Leah", Sean Wei Mah as "Heavey Shield", Zahn McClamon as "Running Fox", Jay Tavare as "Chief Prairie Fire", and Alan Tudyk. Thanks to Katja for letting us know about DdL's new entry on the Imdb!
